Shape up and shake off that Christmas weight!

Oldham’s only officially affiliated ABA boxing club will deliver their post-Christmas “Shape Up And Make Your Weight” project. The programme aims to improve the overall wellbeing and quality of life for its participants, as well as helping to shed a few of the excess pounds piled on over the festive season.

‘Shape up and Make Your Weight’ is not just another diet, and its not just about losing weight. It uses psychological approaches often used in the sport of boxing to help individuals over come the barriers that get in the way when trying to make lifestyle changes. Boxing is one of the few sports in which making weight categories is a fundamental part of the activity. One only has to look at boxing super star Ricky Hatton, an athlete who regularly has weight-management issues!

Due to demand, this will be the third programme run by Oldham Boxing & Personal Development Centre. The last cohort of participants lost an average of 10 pounds in weight and 4 inches from their waists.

Andrea Maloney who lost over a stone and 5 inches from her waist states, “The programme helped me not just to lose weight but also changed my whole lifestyle, and I also made some really good friends along the way.”

The sessions will be held at the state of the art Oldham Boxing Gymnasium on Derker Road, Derker, Oldham from Tuesday 3rd January and then every Tuesdays from 6pm -7pm onwards. Places on this ground breaking initiative are limited so book early in order to secure your place on the project.
